I think we should schedule a meeting to discuss status/latest copies of
sys5, 3.0, and patches documentation.  (Two meetings mayhaps...)
Unfortunately, I have to go to MCC next Thursday, which means Wednesday
will also be rough to come down to Cambridge. Any suggestions?

Current questions/issues are:

Sys5:

We still haven't seen the 30 copies of "core" docs...  who did they go
to?

Release notes have never been assembled in one piece.  The install stuff
is in good shape, when chboot change is inserted.

What is the current form of the install (load/config/newboot) manuals?
Since they're generic to both 3.0 and sys5, they should be separate from
release notes for either product... I know I have one in this form; I'll
check it again. But the bound one I got 2 weeks ago is called 'release
notes for sys 5', which it is, but it's got the load/etc. stuff.

On the other hand, the release notes are still missing essentials:

  - most significant changes v7 vs. sys5
  - known limitations (*crucial* for beta, at least!)
  - list of LMI-ifications... names of scripts, utilities, etc
  - notes/list of sys5/bsd4.2 enhancements

Other pieces or separate docs that are still needed include the
  - v7 to sys5 conversion programmer's guide (please...)
  - chaosnet info (the infamous chaos_blurb? I don't know, I've
    never seen it, or anything else that covers the topic.)

Rel3.0:

Could you send me a complete list, or doc plan? I don't have a concise
list of issues yet. But, have the release notes been expanded at all?

On the new manuals, load/config/newboot seem  to be in pretty good shape.
But, Robert P. found some problems with the install process which he is
supposed to communicate to y'all.

We have only begun (last 2 weeks) to be able to plunge into tape and
font guides... and I don't think any of us have had a chance to look
much at the new site editor... the manual, much less the program.

2.0 patches 102.187:

I've drafted the "intro" type sections. Robert is adding the
load/test/install section. We've begun to english-ify the patch notes.
This is coming along very well, and it tests our ability to read patch
comments. Could we talk sometime about setting up some standards for
patch comments?  ...Like, if the comments are cryptic, ensuring that
they get updated *in the code*...?

I will e-mail and s-mail (shuttle) a copy of my patch doc draft (before
I go away Thursday).
