This is in response to your fax from last week regarding the availability of
4.0 beta software.

Today, I am working on installing 4.0 at a local university. As soon as I have
completed this test installation, I will proceed to make a kit for you.
Unfortunately, right now my VAX is broken, and I cannot duplicate tapes.  I
hope to resolve this within a few days.  But until then, I cannot give you a
firm availability date.

The software installation should be fairly straight-forward; not much has
changed from 3.0 in this regard.  Of course, the documentation has not been
completed; I will send you draft copies of what I have written so far.

I'm sure you appreciate the importance of explaining to Secom that this is
pre-release, test software.  I gather the reason for providing 4.0 to them is
to show that we are actively working to improve our software, especially
TCP/IP.  We do not know, however, whether any problems they have encountered
have been resolved.

I hope this will improve the difficult situation with Secom.
