SOFTWARE VERSIONS AND REQUIREMENTS The chart shows, for all released software products and versions, the pre-requisite software levels and co-requisite hardware upgrades. HOW TO READ THIS CHART: Find the item you want to check, and look *UP* along the connected lines on the chart to find what is required before installing the item. (Don't try to follow it looking down the arrows, you'll get dizzy.) LEGEND: 1. [software product] ...Software products 2. {hardware item} ...Hardware items 3. \/ ...H/W co-req 4. :------------: : O/S level : ...Valid operating system revision :------------: 5. ||<===[item] ...Points to valid pre-req 6. || [item] ...Is connected to pre-req above 7. **Notes ...Status on product EXPLANATION: 1. SOFTWARE products are enclosed in brackets "[ ]". 2. HARDWARE items are enclosed in braces "{ }". 3. Co-requisite HARDWARE requirements point to the software which requires them with arrows "\/". 4. O/S VERSIONS (SDU, Lisp, and Unix) are in boxes. 5. LAYERED SOFTWARE items point, with arrows "==>", to the valid O/S version(s) they can be loaded on. 6. Vertical lines "||" connect items (mostly SOFTWARE UPDATES) to pre-requisite O/S VERSIONS located above. If an item is connected to more than one pre-requisite, all combinations work. 7. Notes are marked by asterisks "**". MORE INFORMATION: Details on each software and hardware item listed on the chart, with part numbers, are provided after the chart. Because of critical bug fixes and support for HP Laser1, it can be considered a minimum rev for 2.0 Lisp. Comes with 783 microcode. New systems must have 102.117 installed, then the [2.0 Patch] release. STATUS: Released. [2.0 Patch] This is the "official" 2.0 patch update (see "102.187"). STATUS: Released. 2945-0000 PATCH TAPE REL 2.0 2.0 Lisp Any System 102 Lisp band(s). Minimum patch level is 102.117; 102.187 is recommended. [3.0 Boot] The 3.0 SDU software release with cylinder 1 Lisp label; may optionally contain [System 5 Unix] or [Version 7 Unix]. SDU Rev 3.14 was released with System 5; higher revs may come with beta 3.0 Lisp. STATUS: Ongoing Beta test. 3143-0000 TAPE SDU BOOT REL 3.0 3145-0000 UPGRADE REL 3.0 W/UNIX 3139-0000 TAPE BOOT WITH VERSION 7 [3.0 LISP] Any System 110 Lisp band(s); currently in beta test. Beta II (system 3.26) was not widely circulated. Beta III (system 3.93) is shipping to all official beta sites, with microcode 1563. STATUS: Ongoing Beta test. 3144-0000 TAPE LISP BAND REL 3.0 3146-0000 TAPE LISP SOURCES REL 3.0 [CPU upgrade] Retrofit of 68010 CPU; recommended for [System 5 Unix]. ????-???? STATUS: Ongoing field effort. {dual disk} Dual CDC-515 drives are supported by 2.0 Lisp 102.145 and above, and by all 3.0 Lisp versions. STATUS: Released. {HP/Laser1} The standard HP/Laser1 printer; runs on 2.0 Lisp with patches. STATUS: Released; (HP/Laser1+) upgrade is recommended. {HP/Laser1+} An upgrade to the standard HP/Laser1 printer, includes additional memory (e.g. for better screen dumps). Requires 2.0 patches and an optional tape containing the [Laser1+] driver. STATUS: Released. [Iris 1.0] Software to run with the Silicon Graphics Iris graphics work-station. Requires [Vista 1.0]. STATUS: Released. ????-???? [Lambda retrofit] The current retrofit program to upgrade Lambda boards and the SDU. NOTE: The retrofit is listed below the [3.0 boot] upgrade because they may be installed together or separately as convenient. STATUS: Ongoing field effort. ????-???? [Laser1+] An optional tape containing the driver to run the HP/Laser1+ printer (HP/Laser1 with memory upgrade). Not yet released for 3.0 Lisp. STATUS: Released. ????-???? [LM-Prolog 2.0] Prolog for 2.0 Lisp; LM-Prolog 1.2 is obsolete. Do not load in a band with the micro-compiler! STATUS: Released. ????-???? [LM-Prolog 3.0] LMI's licensed version of the popular Prolog language; it differs significantly from the almost-standard Dec-10 Prolog dialects. STATUS: Not yet available from the vendor; earlier LM-Prolog releases will not work with 3.0 Lisp. ????-???? [MicroCompiler] An optional Lisp compiler optimization tool, for improving the performance of selected Lisp functions. STATUS: Not on price list. Not available yet for 3.0 Lisp. (The system MICRO-COMPILATION TOOLS is loaded in the 3.0 band, but that is just run-time software for executing micro-compiled code.) ????-???? [Object-Lisp 1.0] An optional product for [2.0 Lisp]. Is required for Vista/Iris software. STATUS: Released. ????-???? [Object-Lisp 2.0] Available as an update to 2.0 Lisp (replacing [Object-Lisp 1.0], and very different!).
