Steve Diamond of Johns Hopkins University wants to develop a custom multibus device driver. Based on prior experience, sending the tape requires 1) approval from upper management, and 2) modification of their service contract. The last time this came up, from MCC/HI, it caused no end of trouble and confusion. Jim Avery requested /sys, and LMI agreed to send the tape provided that they accept an addendum to their system service agreement. (See attached memo.) June Morris and Jim Belcher drafted the addendum, but I don't have a copy. MCC never signed the contract addendum, and we never had to send the tape. Briefly, the contract addendum is needed to clarify their liability and responsibility in regard to service issues, e.g. repairing any damage they may cause to their system. I outlined the terms and agreements of the addendum to Steve Diamond, and he agreed to abide by them. I am willing to send the tape to Johns Hopkins, but I'm passing this along for your approval. If you decide that the tape should be provided, someone will need to make arrangements for the contract addendum. KMC Attachment
