1. PRINT SETTINGS WHEN DX FILE CREATED

    Problem:

When a WPS-PLUS document is converted to DX format, all print
settings are changed to default settings.

    Solution:

If other print settings are needed, correct the settings after the
    file has been transferred.

2. PAGE SIZE MODIFICATION

    Problem:

WPS-PLUS uses a default of 66 lines per page, and ignores the
Number of Lines per Page (PS) setting on the Print Settings Menu
    for IBM-Compatible printers.

    Solution:

If you need to change the page size to a value other than 66 lines
per page, there are two ways to accomplish this. First, if your
page size will always remain constant, say 80 lines per page, you
can modify the initialization sequence in the printer attribute
table to contain the printer escape sequence to set the lines per
page to that value. Refer to Chapter 6 - Modifying Printer Tables
    - of the Installation and Printer Table manual for information on
having your systems programmer modify the printer tables.

    For example:

If your printer uses a <ESC>C escape sequence to set page size,
you add this sequence to the end of the Initialization Sequence
field in the table. For 80 lines per page, the escape sequence
you enter into the table is <ESC>CP , where P is the ASCII
character with the decimal value of 80. For 100 lines per page,
the escape sequence is <ESC>Cd , where d is the ASCII character
with a decimal value of 100.

Second, if your page size varies from document to document, a
better solution is to define a special printer table keyword for
each of the different page sizes. This will allow you to define a
page size for a document by using the print control command:

                         PRINTER TABLE keyword

in the document, so that each document will print the appropriate
number of lines per page. Refer to Chapter 6 - Modifying Printer
Tables - of the Installation and Printer Table manual and Chapter
12 - Control Blocks - of the Editor Functions manual for
    information on using this feature.

    For example:

Add keywords to the Printer Table - one called LONGFORM which has
the escape sequence <ESC>CP, for 80 lines per page paper. Now,
whenever you wish to use 80 lines per page paper in your printer,
insert the following control block at the top of your document:

    --------------------------- START CONTROL -----------------------
    PRINTER TABLE LONGFORM
    --------------------------- END CONTROL -----------------------

You must also add a second keyword to the attribute table called
RESETFORM, which has a value of <ESC>CB, for 66 lines per page
paper. Whenever LONGFORM is used, the document must end with the
    control block

    --------------------------- START CONTROL -----------------------
    PRINTER TABLE RESETFORM
    --------------------------- END CONTROL ------------------------

so the printer will be set back to a page size of 66 lines per
    page.

For both these methods to work, you must remember to set your
lines per page setting - PS - to the right number on the Print
    Settings Menu for the document.

3. TRANSFERRING DX DOCUMENTS TO THE HOST COMPUTER WITH POLY-XFR

    Problem:

The procedure on page 8-11 is missing information.

    Solution:

Add the following item after the third bullet item on the page:

o If you are transferring a DX file to the host computer, use a
/VA qualifier after the Poly-XFR command line. For example, to
transfer a DX file called MEMO1.DX to the host, type:

    		XFR MEMO1.DX/I TO MEMO1.DX/VA

4. DOCUMENT TRANSFER BETWEEN WPS-PLUS/VMS V2.0 AND WPS-PLUS/PC V1.0

    Problem:

WPS-PLUS/PC does not support all WPS-PLUS/VMS V2.0 Editor
    features.

    Solution:

Documents can be transferred to and from WPS-PLUS/VMS V2.0.
However, in a document transferred from the VAX to the PC, you
should not edit text on the PC with the following features:

Footnotes - Redlining - Double Underlining - Change Bars

When editing a document that was transferred from WPS-PLUS/VMS
V2.0 to WPS-PLUS/PC V1.0, the above features appear in the
document by a block character, followed by a letter, some text,
and another block character. The letters are:

        	F - for footnotes
    		R - for redlining
    		D - for double underlining
    		C - for change bars

Do not use the Editor to edit any text with WPS-PLUS/PC that
appears on the screen in the above format.

5. PROPORTIONAL SPACING IN PRINTER ATTRIBUTE TABLES

    Problem:

Setting the Proportional spacing sequence to YES in the printer
table for your printer causes the printer to print incorrectly.

    Solution:

The proportional spacing sequence should always be set to NO for
any printers other than DIGITAL Letter Quality Printers.

6. COMMUNICATIONS PORT FOR WPS-PLUS COMMUNICATIONS

    Problem:

WPS-PLUS Terminal Emulation always uses the COMM1 port on the PC
to communicate with the VAX host.

    Solution:

Be sure that the RS232 Communications port on your PC is defined
as COMM1 if you use WPS-PLUS Communications or it will not work.
