190-161 IBM 4702 PROCESSORS AND 4701 MODEL X03 CONTROLLER ENHANCED The IBM 4702 Processors and the IBM 4701 Model X03 Controller have been enhanced by a no-charge engineering change (EC 325258) to provide users with improvements in microcode-enabling features, new display device support, and DASD reliability and support. These enhancements also allow 4700 users more flexibility in their connectivity options so that they may continue to add more advanced functions through the integration of intelligent workstations. This engineering change is designed to be used in conjunction with Release 9 of the IBM 4700 Finance Communications Systems Host Support licensed program (5668-989). Planned Availability Date: October 5, 1990. HIGHLIGHTS o Enhancements to microcode-enabling functions allow the customer to 'grow" current 4700 system environments without the physical to 'grow" current 4700 system environments without the physical inhibitors of previous releases. The 'keys" to function enabling inhibitors of previous releases. The 'keys" to function enabling may be issued by system monitor commands or from a central site using the IBM 4700 Finance Communications Systems Host Support licensed program. o Functional support in emulation mode for the 3471 and 3472 InfoWindow (R) displays has been requested by customers who are upgrading display devices but wish to continue to use their present applications. A new system monitor command allows the device type to be displayed on the screen. o Reliability and serviceability have been enhanced to improve user productivity and increase data integrity. o System monitor and miscellaneous enhancements for EC 325258 include merge AP option, generation manipulation with IPL, and timer-driven single-cycle debugging. o The LU-LU pass-through capabilities have been enhanced to allow restricted participation for IMS and TSO environments.
